Electroplated zinc is a widely applied finish that provides economical
corrosion resistance to steel. Today, with higher worldwide demand
for improved quality and corrosion resistance, alternate coatings
are required. Zinc alloys, particularly zinc cobalt, are proving
to be commercially viable and cost effective while providing significant
increases in corrosion protection over pure zinc. Products used
on: nuts & bolts, computer chassis, metal frames of all types,
hydraulic tubing, etc.
There are four standard chromates used on top of Zinc. Clear,
Yellow, Black, and Olive Drab. Chromates are used to prevent the
Zinc from corroding and for cosmetic purposes.
